DESTINATION AND LOCATION
The Pestana Fisherman Village is located in the historic
centre of Câmara de Lobos, a town located only 8 km from Funchal and 25 km from the airport. Renowned for the beauty of its bay, its street entertainment and good cuisine, this place is a
must for trying one of the traditional nikitas and fishermen’s punches. The town of Câmara de Lobos has an inevitable relationship with the sea and the project focuses on preserving
the authenticity of the site, including the proximity to the Interpretative Centre for Fishing and Fishermen.
Câmara de Lobos owes its name to the sighting of a community of sea lions, when discovered by the navigator Gonçalves Zarco in 1420.
