Pestana Bazaruto Lodge is an
Eco Resort with a typical environment and is located in the paradisiacal island of
Bazaruto. A true dream destination, this place of rare beauty is characterised by its
fauna, marine life, white-sand beaches and turquoise blue waters right outside your bedroom door. With plenty to explore, it has an
outdoor pool, restaurant and bar, and for the more adventurous guests, it also offers diving and snorkelling at one of the largest
coral reef sites in the world. Discover all facets of fishing here, including fly-fishing, big game and marlin fishing, and shore fishing, as well as water-skiing and wakeboarding, island excursions, bird-watching and more.
At Pestana Bazaruto Lodge, you’ll find one- or two-bedroom
bungalows with thatched roofs and two- or three-bedroom
villas with or without a pool and with the option of your own
private chef. All accommodation is on the beach, facing the sea and set among tropical gardens to provide fantastic views of both.
The lodge’s restaurant and bar are also right on the beach, allowing guests to enjoy their meal or drink in a heavenly setting with a breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean.
And after a fantastic day enjoying the many experiences this world-renowned fishing location offers, it’s time to sit back in your own beachfront bungalow or on your balcony with only the ocean in front of you. Let yourself be lulled by the slow, steady, soothing sound of the waves, and, as the last rays of sun touch your face, admire the sunset in a rainbow-coloured sky. Twilight then turns into night, and the beautiful starry skies of the southern hemisphere are yet another visual wonder.
GETTING THERE
Bazaruto is the largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago and it lies approximately
600 km north of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. In addition to Bazaruto, the archipelago consists of the islands of Benguerra, Magaruque and Bangue, as well as the small island of Santa Carolina, commonly known as
Paradise Island.
The archipelago, declared a
National Park in 2000, boasts a range of fauna and flora, including forest, savanna and swamp ecosystems. The island, a small piece of paradise, is 35 km long and 7 km wide at its furthest points. The stunning beauty of the
coral reefs completes this subtropical ecosystem enriched by the abundance and beauty of tropical fish, clean water and excellent conditions for all kinds of fishing activities. The archipelago is fittingly called the
“Pearl of the Indian Ocean”. Pestana Bazaruto Lodge is on the northern end of the island, about 65 km north of Vilankulo and 35 km east of Inhassoro, towns in Inhambane Province. Vilankulo has an international airport with regular flights from Johannesburg and Maputo. The most recommended transfer from Vilankulo to the island is by helicopter, a 20-minute trip with stunning views of the sea and the island. Another option is a boat transfer, which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Vilankulo or 45 minutes from Inhassoro.
