Pestana Kruger Lodge
Safari Resort & National Park
Kruger Park, a wildlife sanctuary, is home to five magnificent species: nearly 1,900 white rhinoceroses, 17,000 elephants, 48,000 buffaloes, 1,500 lions and 1,000 leopards. Hundreds of other animals share this area, such as vultures, eagles, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, cheetahs and crocodiles.
Kruger Park offers themed safaris, including ones for honeymoons and family experiences, horse-riding, bird watching and many more. Activities are led by experienced guides in open vehicles to help you appreciate the beautiful scenery and wildlife.
Just over two hours away from the hotel, the small museum-town of Pilgrim’s Rest preserves its mining and prospecting heritage, which evokes the gold rush of the 19th century. The town was declared a South African National Landmark in 1986.
Three round mountains stand tall over the Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest gorges in the world. In order to enjoy the dazzling scenery and unforgettable sunsets, visitors are advised to take binoculars, cameras, hiking boots, hats and sun cream.
Considered the most spectacular falls in South Africa, the Mac Mac Falls are classified as a national landmark. The “twin” waterfalls stand 70 metres above the gorge. Various natural pools, picnic areas and lookouts can be found from the road.
