The Flower Festival is the festive season announcing the arrival of Spring. The flowers, colours and smells permeate through the streets of the city and carry the island’s name across frontiers.

The Madeira Atlantic Festival, an event that sets the beginning of the summer season in Madeira, is one of the most recent tourist entertainment events, held for the first time in June 2002.

The Cathedral from Funchal (Sé) has been classified as a National Monument since 1910, and constitutes the main religious building of the Archipelago, and is greatly visited both by the inhabitants and visitors of the city of Funchal.
