Pestana Quinta do Arco
Nature & Rose Garden Hotel
The Rose Garden is located in the north of Madeira, more specifically in Arco de São Jorge in Santana. Besides its unique beauty and its surrounding Laurissilva Forest, it is in itself a common cultural and botanical heritage of all Madeirans and Portuguese.
The Quinta do Arco de São Jorge Rose Garden was a project created in 2003 by Madeiran politician Dr Miguel Albuquerque and architect Elisabete Andrade and opened its doors to the public in April 2004. It was inaugurated on 1 June 2004 and dedicated to Isabel de Herédia Duchess of Bragança and Grand Master of the Order of Queen Saint Isabel, wife of Duarte Pio de Herédia, Royal Prince of Portugal and Duke of Bragança on 13 August 2005. It is one of the five most famous rose gardens in Europe and one of the largest in the world.
The Rose Garden at Quinta do Arco de São Jorge has been under the management of the International Hotel Group - Pestana Hotel Group since 26 June 2017. This Rose Garden is part of a tourist complex belonging to the Pestana Hotel Group, called the Pestana Quinta do Arco Nature & Rose Garden Hotel, comprising 58 rooms divided into Villas, Studios and a main house.
